Wooting's 80% Hall effect board with a gasket mount and 8 kHz polling
A wired 80% Hall effect keyboard with Lekker L60 V2 switches, a silicone gasket mount, a polycarbonate plate and true 8 kHz polling, in recycled ABS or zinc. Reviewers praise the software and build, and fault the wired-only design, non-standard layout and some chassis flex.
A well-reviewed competitive 80% that Tom's Guide and WIRED rate highly for software and build. Choose it for 8 kHz and Wootility; consider the 80HE+ if you want Wooting's newer switches and plate, or another brand if you need wireless.
Wooting's page describes the 80HE as its most complete keyboard: Lekker L60 V2 switches, true 8 kHz polling (Tachyon mode in Wootility, about 0.125 ms), Rapid Trigger, 0.1 mm actuation steps and an LED bar. The mounting is a silicone gasket between the PCB assembly and the switch plate, which is polycarbonate, with screw-in stabilizers. The case is post-consumer-recycled ABS (790 g) or zinc alloy (2,160 g), 346 x 142 mm, 19.4 mm high at the front without keycaps. Interchangeable silicone feet give 2.8, 6 or 10 degrees, up to four profiles are stored on the board, and the warranty is four years excluding the LEDs. Wooting's page now points to an updated 80HE+.
Tom's Guide called it a fantastic gaming keyboard with premium build, beautiful typing feel and excellent software, but wired only, with a non-standard PCB that limits aftermarket parts, and rivals that cost less; for wireless, typing or modding it suggested other boards. WIRED scored it 9 out of 10 after testing the zinc version. It called Wootility a standout, found the default polling 1,600 Hz with Tachyon mode giving 8,000 Hz at the cost of animated RGB, and disliked the layout compared with a standard TKL. PCWorld praised the smooth pre-lubricated switches, insulation and hot-swappable PCB, but noted a rattling spacebar, mediocre finish in places and inflexible silicone feet that attract dust. PC Gamer found it capable and powerful but said the plastic chassis has some flex, and that the Snappy Tappy and Rappy Snappy SOCD features had to be left out in some games.
