Varmilo's wired Cherry MX TKL with dye-sub PBT and quiet stabilizers

A wired TKL with Cherry MX switches, dye-sublimated PBT keycaps, a plate-mount build and mini-USB. Switch and Click (an affiliate-linked site) called its stabilizers the best on any prebuilt; there is no RGB, software or hot-swap.

Our take, based on research

A long-running prebuilt favorite for stabilizers and keycaps, still without hot-swap, USB-C or software. Choose it for feel and looks and expect a plain, wired board.

Overview

The VA87M is Varmilo's tenkeyless board in many themed colorways. The MechanicalKeyboards.com listing, which carries Varmilo's specifications, describes German-made Cherry MX switches, dye-sublimated English and Hangul PBT keycaps, an ABS frame, a plate-mount switch mount, white LED backlighting on this edition and no hot-swap, with a 60-inch cable and N-key rollover. Switches are fixed at purchase across Black, Brown, Blue, Red, Silver, Clear and silent options. Switch and Click (which says it earns affiliate commissions) called it one of the best, with a sturdy plastic case with a metal plate and no creaking, and thought the stabilizers the best on any prebuilt, with no spacebar rattle. It found the Cherry MX Blacks smooth with little spring ping, the legends hard to read on dark keycaps in the dark, and noted the board has a mini-USB port and no RGB or software. A 2021 Geekhack review thread agreed on the stabilizers and typing feel, though one reply noted a spacebar that tilted over time, and the original poster said the plate was aluminum. Varmilo's own site lists the VA87M among its models. Specs here come mostly from the retailer listing and reviews. It is a no-fuss typing board for people who want good stabilizers, thick keycaps and Cherry MX without software.
