Hall effect 60% Rapid trigger

Our take, based on research

A budget 60% for gaming with an unusual lightbox and a large optional battery, but there are no independent reviews to back the maker's claims. For a better documented 60% in the same family, look at the FUN60 Pro or Ultra.

Overview

Shine60 HE is a Veekos-branded 60% that MonsGeek's store lists in its MG Select range and Akko's EU store also sells. It uses Glare or Flash magnetic switches, a native 8,000 Hz rate over USB and, on the tri-mode build, over 2.4GHz as well, Rapid Trigger precision of 0.01 mm and an "RT Stabilizer" filter. The maker lists a tray-mounted case with an aluminum plate and lubed stabilizers, a 7,000 mAh battery on the tri-mode version, and support for seven third-party magnetic switches. Mechanical switches are not supported. A user-configurable lightbox is the main design hook, controlled through Veekos' own driver, which exists as a desktop app and a browser app.

No independent English-language review of the Shine60 HE turned up, so everything here comes from the maker and retailer listings. That means the sound, flex and software quality are unverified. The product category is the same as the FUN60 Pro: a 60% without arrows or function keys, aimed at gaming.

Within MonsGeek's own lineup it sits between the plastic FUN60 Pro and the aluminum FUN60 Ultra. The Veekos driver and the lightbox are what set it apart, and MonsGeek's listing says the online driver does not support Safari on macOS and that settings cannot be changed over Bluetooth on a Mac.

Pros & Cons

Strengths
  • Native 8,000 Hz polling, wired and over 2.4GHz on the tri-mode version
  • Rapid Trigger precision to 0.01 mm with an RT Stabilizer filter
  • Tray-mounted case with an aluminum plate and lubed stabilizers (maker)
  • Supports seven third-party magnetic switches; Glare or Flash switches at purchase
  • 7,000 mAh battery on the tri-mode build, against 3,000 to 4,000 mAh on the FUN60 boards
  • DIY lightbox with addressable RGB, and a desktop driver with firmware updates
What Could Be Better
  • No independent review found, so sound and build quality rest on the maker's claims
  • 60% layout without arrows or function row
  • The online driver does not support Safari on macOS, and settings cannot be changed over Bluetooth on a Mac (MonsGeek listing)
  • Mechanical switches are not supported
  • Branded Veekos rather than MonsGeek, with a different driver app from the FUN boards
