The cheap magnetic 60%

A 60% Hall-effect board with an aluminum plate, 8K polling and a very low entry price. Reviewers call the plastic case and sound adequate rather than premium.

Hall effect 60% Tri-mode Rapid trigger

Our take, based on research

A cheap, compact way into Rapid Trigger that reviewers rate well for gaming and more modestly for sound and build. If you also type a lot, the FUN68 HE (arrows, bottom foam) or the aluminum FUN60 Ultra is the better step up.

Overview

The FUN60 Pro is MonsGeek's entry point to magnetic-switch gaming: a 60% layout with Akko Glare magnetic switches (3.4 mm travel, 25 gf initial force, 40 gf at the 2.0 mm point per MonsGeek's table), adjustable actuation from 0.1 mm, Rapid Trigger down to 0.01 mm and an 8,000 Hz polling rate over USB or the 2.4GHz dongle. MonsGeek lists a tray mount with an aluminum plate, pre-lubed stabilizers, double-shot PBT Cherry-profile keycaps and a browser-based driver. It is sold wired or as a tri-mode version with Bluetooth 5.0 and a 3,000 mAh battery. The switches are N-pole magnets, so the maker warns that Akko's S-pole Creamy Yellow switches will not work in it.

Reviewers agree on the trade-off. TechNuovo, reviewing an ISO unit, found it light and well controlled for flex, with plate and case foam and a sound that is decent for the money, but missing arrows and a function row, which it called a problem outside gaming. TechteamGB described the plastic frame as light but not the most rigid and not the best sounding. ComputerBase rated the analog switches and feature set highly, called the plastic chassis and noise level fine but not top class, and noted the web app needs a driver and is not polished everywhere. It named the Skiller SGK50 S4 Gen2 as an alternative with better damping and open firmware.

A Japanese review of its successor, the FUN68 HE, says the FUN60 left the bottom of the case empty, which made it echo, and used an older web driver. The FUN68 HE adds arrow keys and bottom foam, so the FUN60 Pro is mainly for people who want the smallest, cheapest way into Rapid Trigger.

Pros & Cons

Strengths
  • Native 8,000 Hz polling over USB, plus 2.4GHz on the tri-mode version (MonsGeek)
  • Rapid Trigger down to 0.01 mm and per-key actuation from 0.1 mm in the web driver
  • Aluminum plate in a tray-mounted case, with pre-lubed stabilizers and double-shot PBT keycaps (MonsGeek)
  • Cross-compatible with several third-party N-pole magnetic switches
  • Wired or tri-mode (Bluetooth 5.0, 2.4GHz, USB-C) with a 3,000 mAh battery on the tri-mode build
  • ComputerBase called it a good entry point to analog and small-form-factor boards
What Could Be Better
  • No arrow keys or function row; TechNuovo says it is hard to recommend for work as well as games
  • Plastic case: TechteamGB found it light but not very rigid, and ComputerBase found the sound only okay
  • Software runs in the browser and ComputerBase found it flexible but not polished everywhere
  • After a switch swap the board needs recalibrating in the driver (MonsGeek)
  • Akko's S-pole Creamy Yellow switches are not compatible
  • Rapid Trigger boards can be restricted or banned in some games and tournaments (TechNuovo)

Who Is This For?

Perfect For
  • Gamers who want Rapid Trigger on a tight budget
  • Small desks and low-sensitivity mouse players who want the keyboard out of the way
  • First-time magnetic-switch buyers
Maybe Not For
  • Anyone who needs arrows or F-keys for daily work
  • Typists who want a heavy, deep-sounding case
  • Buyers who want open-source firmware (ComputerBase points to the Skiller SGK50 for that)
