Slim low-profile 65% with 2.4 GHz and QMK/VIA

The K7 Max is a slim 65% with 2.4 GHz, QMK/VIA and a 73-hour battery rating at about 436 g. Android Police found the build premium and the keyboard growing on it as a portable. Also covers the K7 Pro and K7 Ultra-slim.

65% layout Tri-mode Hot-swap QMK/VIA Low profile

Our take, based on research

A strong slim 65% for travel. The function-row sacrifice is the main trade.

Overview

The K7 Max is Keychron's low-profile 65% with a dongle. The page lists 68 keys, 2.4 GHz plus Bluetooth for up to three devices plus wired at 1000 Hz, hot-swappable Gateron low-profile mechanical switches, an ABS-with-aluminum-frame case, low-profile double-shot PBT keycaps, 22 RGB effects, a 1550 mAh battery rated up to 73 hours and about 436 g.

Android Police found a premium feel from the ABS and aluminum frame with hardly any deck flex, noticeable acoustic foam, pleasant sound on brown switches and a 22 mm height ideal for a bag. It cautioned that replacement switches must be Gateron or Keychron low-profile ones.

It is smaller than the K3 Max because it drops the function row.

Versions: this page also covers the K7 Pro and K7 Ultra-slim, which use the same slim 65% body. Per Keychron's pages, both are Bluetooth 5.1 and wired only, with no 2.4 GHz dongle. The K7 Pro keeps QMK/VIA, Gateron low-profile switches and low-profile double-shot PBT keycaps, with a battery rated around 100 hours with the backlight off. The original K7 Ultra-slim has no QMK/VIA, ABS keycaps, a four-level backlight, hot-swappable Gateron mechanical or Keychron optical versions and a battery rated up to 34 hours, at about 349 g.
