The wireless magnetic 65%

A style-first 65% with a perforated ABS shell over a clear polycarbonate frame, Hall-effect switches and 8K polling. Wired or tri-mode.

Hall effect 65% Tri-mode Rapid trigger

Our take, based on research

A fun, lightweight, budget Hall-effect 65% that is mainly about looks. Evidence is thin: maker specs plus one promotional review. If sound and a quieter case matter more than style, the FUN68 HE has better documented reviews.

Overview

The Verve68 HE is a 68-key, 65% board whose gimmick is the case: a perforated ABS outer shell over a solid polycarbonate inner frame, so the RGB lights the whole body. MonsGeek lists tray mounting, pre-lubed plate-mounted stabilizers, translucent "misty" PC and ABS keycaps in Cherry profile, a south-facing PCB, 8,000 Hz polling over USB (and 2.4GHz on the tri-mode build), a 16K scan rate and precision down to 0.005 mm. Configuration is through the MonsGeek V4 driver, which also handles firmware updates, and the tri-mode build adds a 2.4GHz receiver and Bluetooth, with its mode switch under the caps key.

PCGOGO's review is the only third-party piece found, and its tone is promotional, so treat it cautiously. It calls the typing feel light, clean and poppy with no deep thock because of the tray mount, the sound bright with controlled ping, and says the hollow case makes it the best RGB showcase among budget Hall-effect boards. Its main complaint is that the tray mount lacks the bounce of gasket boards. It also says the sockets take magnetic switches only, with no mechanical support.

Next to the FUN68 HE, which has a plain plastic case, this is the board for people who care how it looks lit up. It offers arrow keys in the same layout and the same class of switch.

Pros & Cons

Strengths
  • Distinctive perforated ABS shell over a polycarbonate frame that diffuses RGB
  • 65% layout with arrow keys
  • 8,000 Hz wired polling, a 16K scan rate and 0.005 mm precision (maker figures)
  • Wired or tri-mode (Bluetooth, 2.4GHz) options
  • Pre-lubed stabilizers and a south-facing PCB for Cherry-profile keycaps
What Could Be Better
  • Tray mount, so PCGOGO describes the feel as firm rather than bouncy
  • Only one promotional-sounding third-party review found
  • Tri-mode build's mode switch sits under the caps key (MonsGeek)
  • Does not accept mechanical switches (PCGOGO)
