The cheap magnetic 65%

A wired 65% Hall-effect board with arrow keys, a plastic case, bottom foam and 8K polling. A Japanese review picks it over the FUN60 and Akko TAC75 HE for everyday use.

Hall effect 65% Rapid trigger

Our take, based on research

A sensible budget magnetic 65%: arrows, bottom foam and an improved driver make it a more rounded daily board than the FUN60. Only one detailed independent review was found, and it is in Japanese.

Overview

The FUN68 HE is the 65% model in MonsGeek's FUN line: 68 keys with arrows, Akko Glare (or Flash) magnetic switches, 8,000 Hz wired polling, Rapid Trigger precision down to 0.005 mm and a "RT Stabilizer" filter for hand tremor. MonsGeek lists a glossy black or white ABS case, Cherry-profile double-shot PBT keycaps and support for 7+ third-party magnetic switches, all configured in the MonsGeek web driver. It is wired only.

The most detailed review found is a Japanese one by Spine, which compares it with the FUN60 and Akko's TAC75 HE. It reports a tray-mount build with foam added to the bottom of the case, which removed the echo the FUN60 had, a sound it describes as calm and low-pitched, lightweight plastic, a two-stage tilt stand and 1.7 mm side-printed PBT keycaps. Stabilizers are described as only average and fairly loud. The reviewer says the updated web driver is much easier to use than the FUN60's and that, if forced to pick one of the three, it would be the FUN68. The recommendation is aimed at people trying Rapid Trigger for the first time or using one keyboard for both games and daily work.

Against the FUN60 it adds arrow keys and a quieter case at the cost of some desk space; against the TAC75 HE it saves space but drops the function row.

Pros & Cons

Strengths
  • Arrow keys in a 65% layout, so it can double as an everyday keyboard
  • Rapid Trigger precision to 0.005 mm with an RT Stabilizer filter and 8,000 Hz wired polling
  • Bottom foam fixes the empty-case echo of the FUN60, per Spine's review
  • Supports 7+ third-party magnetic switches (MonsGeek)
  • Double-shot PBT side-printed keycaps and a two-stage tilt stand (Spine)
What Could Be Better
  • Wired only
  • Plastic (ABS) case and a tray mount, so no gasket-style softness (Spine)
  • Stock stabilizers are average and fairly loud (Spine)
  • No function row, and Spine notes some RGB features need a browser plugin
  • Only a limited list of switches is guaranteed to reach 0.01 mm accuracy (MonsGeek)

Who Is This For?

Perfect For
  • Newcomers to Rapid Trigger who want arrows
  • Players who also type and browse on the same board
  • Budget buyers who want 8K polling without wireless
Maybe Not For
  • Anyone who needs wireless
  • Buyers who want a metal case or a gasket feel
  • People who need an F-row (Spine points to the TAC75 HE for that)
