A mechanical 60% that is not a Topre

The wireless V4: a 60% with a gasket mount, PC plate and Jupiter switches, 2.4GHz and Bluetooth. Independent coverage is thin, so this relies on Keychron's specs and one owner post.

Our take, based on research

A logical wireless 60% on Keychron's V Max platform. Independent coverage is thin, so lean on the V1 Max and V3 Max reviews as a guide, and buy from a recent batch with a good return window.

Overview

The V4 Max puts the 60% layout on Keychron's gasket-mount platform. Keychron's spec page lists an ABS plastic case with a gasket mount and PC plate, Gateron Jupiter hot-swap switches, double-shot OSA PBT keycaps, 2.4GHz (1000Hz) and Bluetooth 5.1 plus wired USB-C, QMK with the Launcher web app, and a 4000 mAh battery rated up to 190 hours with the backlight off. Keychron lists 645 g and 305 x 123.1 mm, about 85 g lighter than the wired V4.

An owner write-up on kyu08's blog (in Japanese) chose the V4 Max as a light 60% for carrying, because he wanted a weight of around 600 g and listed the V4 Max at 650 g and it was expected to be quiet enough for an office. He bought the barebone version, fitted his own switches and keycaps, and said the gasket mount gave a pleasant typing feel and a sound that was not loud. He also said the board is light but did not slide around.

This entry has weak evidence: no full English-language review could be opened, so feel and sound beyond that single owner's report rest on Keychron's specs and on reviews of the V1 Max and V3 Max, which share the platform. As with the other V Max boards, TechPowerUp reported double-press and chatter complaints in July 2025, which Keychron attributed to warped plates and said it had corrected at the production level. Keychron's listing mentions a knob in its layout line but offers no knob option, so do not assume one.

Pros & Cons

Strengths
  • Gasket mount with a PC plate on a 60% layout
  • 2.4GHz at 1000Hz, Bluetooth 5.1 and wired USB-C (Keychron's spec page)
  • 645 g (Keychron's figure) and 305 mm wide, light enough to carry
  • Keychron rates the 4000 mAh battery at up to 190 hours with the backlight off
  • QMK with the Launcher web app, hot-swap sockets and screw-in stabilizers
  • An owner reported a pleasant, not-loud typing sound with silent switches fitted (kyu08)
What Could Be Better

  • ABS plastic case and non-shine-through keycaps
  • Max-series double-press and chatter reports led to a Keychron statement in July 2025 (TechPowerUp)
