KBDfans' aluminum 60% kit with brass weight and several mounting styles

A 60% aluminum case kit with a brass weight, silicone bowl and sock mounting options, and QMK/VIA PCB choices. Leaf&Core called it high-end on a budget; it noted a thin PCB that flexes with soft plates and a 7° typing angle.

Our take, based on research

A well-regarded budget kit with a heavy, premium feel. Pair it with a rigid plate and expect to assemble it yourself.

Overview

The Tofu60 2.0 is KBDfans' anodized or e-coated aluminum 60% case, available in standard, Win-keyless and HHKB-style top cases. KBDfans' page lists a brass weight, a 7° typing angle, a footprint of 294.7 by 115.7 mm and a weight of about 1.4 kg before assembly, top mount with silicone socks or a silicone bowl as structural options, plate choices of polycarbonate, aluminum, FR4 or carbon fiber, and PCB options in a 1.2 mm flex-cut hot-swap version or a non-flex solder version with QMK and VIA. Its kit includes the case, daughterboard, brass weight, foam kit and Cherry screw-in stabilizers; PCB, plate, switches and keycaps are separate. Leaf&Core called it high-end on a budget, with solid aluminum and brass that feel premium and a build it described as beginner-friendly, taking about 30 minutes to open and reconfigure. The reviewer noted the 1.2 mm PCB is thin and flexible enough that a hard press could trigger a neighboring key with a soft plate, recommending FR4 or something harder, saw the keyboard occasionally turn off when connected through a hub to a Mac, and found the 7° angle a little high. The kit is a platform for experimenting with plates, foams and mounts rather than a finished board. It suits first-time builders who want a heavy aluminum case and room to tune.
