Slim low-profile full-size with 2.4 GHz and QMK/VIA
The K5 Max adds a 2.4 GHz dongle and IXPE foam to the slim full-size. GameRevolution and Phandroid found it light and refined; non-shine-through keycaps were the main complaint. Also covers the K5 (Version 2) and K5 Pro.
The K5 to pick for most buyers; both reviewers liked it.
The K5 Max is the 2.4 GHz K5. Keychron lists a 100% layout with 108 keys, 2.4 GHz plus Bluetooth for up to three devices plus wired at 1000 Hz, hot-swappable Gateron low-profile mechanical switches, an ABS-and-aluminum case, low-profile double-shot PBT keycaps, QMK/VIA with the Launcher, a 2000 mAh battery rated up to 95 hours and about 720 g.
GameRevolution praised the thin build, connectivity options, solid build quality and web-based remapping, but said the stock keycaps are not shine-through so RGB looks dim, and some legend fonts look odd. Phandroid called it surprisingly light for a full-size, said the IXPE foam made a real difference over older rattly low-profile Keychrons, praised the MX-style stems, and said it is better for home or office than for travel.
Compared with the K5 Pro, it adds the dongle and foam; compared with the K5 SE and Ultra Slim, it has PBT keycaps.
Versions: this page also covers the K5 (Version 2) and K5 Pro, which share the 424 x 119 mm low-profile full-size body. Per Keychron's pages, both are Bluetooth and wired only, with no 2.4 GHz dongle. The K5 Pro has QMK/VIA, Gateron low-profile switches, low-profile double-shot PBT keycaps and a battery rated up to 130 hours with the backlight off. The K5 (Version 2) runs QMK with the Launcher over Bluetooth 5.2, uses Keychron Milk POM low-profile switches (hot-swappable on the hot-swappable version) and ships with shine-through ABS keycaps, with a battery rated up to 160 hours with the backlight off. The K5 Ultra-Slim and K5 SE have their own pages.
Bluetooth 5.1 and USB-C wired only, with no 2.4 GHz dongle; QMK/VIA, Gateron low-profile mechanical switches (hot-swap on the hot-swappable versions), low-profile double-shot PBT keycaps, tray mount, 2000 mAh battery rated up to 130 hours with the backlight off, 720 g.
