Corsair's full-size board with quiet, pre-lubed MLX Red switches and a control dial
A wired full-size board with pre-lubed Corsair MLX Red linear switches, an aluminum top plate, two layers of EVA foam, a control dial with presets and a magnetic wrist rest. Tom's Hardware loved the switch feel; Trusted Reviews disliked the fixed cable and the dial's action.
A quiet, solid full-size board that reviewers admire for switch smoothness and sound damping. Choose it for that feel and the dial; skip it if you want a detachable cable, tactile switches or hot-swap.
The K70 Core RGB is the simpler sibling of Corsair's magnetic-switch K70 Max. Corsair's page names MLX Red linear switches. Tom's Hardware describes an aluminum top plate over a plastic body, two layers of EVA foam, double-shot ABS keycaps with shine-through legends, per-key RGB, support for up to five onboard profiles and a metal rotary dial that can handle volume, RGB brightness, vertical and horizontal scrolling and zoom, though it said the dial is not fully customizable and offers five presets. The reviewer called the Corsair Reds the smoothest switches they had used in a stock mainstream gaming board and singled out the lack of case ping. PC Gamer's review agrees that the sound-damping works, with no case ping and quiet lubed switches, though bottom-out still clicks. It also found the dial's tinny click at odds with the rest of the board and the magnetic wrist rest oddly rough, noted that there are no dedicated media keys beyond the iCUE button next to the dial, and said you cannot hot-swap anything. Trusted Reviews took a harder line on typing, calling the keys not a great typing experience for those who want a tactile bump and the dial not smooth in use, and criticizing the integrated cable and lack of a USB hub. It described a sturdy chassis with only slight flex under a hard push. One Trusted Reviews feature blurb calls the switches hot-swappable, which PC Gamer contradicts. The board is wired only and programmed through iCUE. PC Gamer places the Core line a step below Corsair's Pro boards, and there is no adjustable actuation or wireless here.
