Full-size that mixes magnetic and mechanical switches, 8000Hz and tri-mode

Full layout Tri-mode Hot-swap Knob Hall effect

Our take, based on research

An interesting hybrid full-size whose main appeal is mixing switch types. It is still a pre-order with a single review, so wait for more reports before committing.

Overview

The V6 Ultra Hybrid 8K is Keychron's first board that accepts magnetic and mechanical switches on the same keyboard. Keychron's page lists a plastic case with a gasket mount, 8000Hz polling, 2.4GHz, Bluetooth and wired connections, a 4000 mAh battery rated at up to 200 hours, QMK with the Launcher web app (including an AI assistant for settings), and per-key hot-swap with automatic switch recognition. Compatible switches named by Keychron are its Ultra-Fast Lime magnetic switches, Gateron Double-Rail Magnetic Nebula V2, Keychron Apex and Silk POM mechanical switches and most standard 5-pin switches. The page showed a pre-order notice with estimated shipping in December 2026 when checked on 2026-10-18.

GameRevolution used it for two weeks with magnetic Ultra-Fast Lime switches and Silk POM Banana mechanical switches. It found the mixed layout the main selling point, with magnetic switches on movement keys for adjustable actuation and rapid trigger, and mechanical switches elsewhere. It called the OSA PBT keycaps comfortable, the sound well dampened, the plastic case solid and the stabilizers rattle-free. Both USB and 2.4GHz ran at 8000Hz, and wireless worked reliably. Its main complaints were that the legends are not shine-through and that rapid trigger and adjustable actuation only work on magnetic switches, so check which switches you buy.

No other independent review was found, and the board was not yet shipping, so the evidence is one review and Keychron's specs. Keychron's page names QMK and the Launcher web app for remapping.

Pros & Cons

Strengths
  • Accepts magnetic and mechanical switches on any key, with automatic recognition (Keychron, GameRevolution)
  • 8000Hz polling over USB and 2.4GHz; GameRevolution found wireless reliable
  • Tri-mode: 2.4GHz, Bluetooth and wired USB-C, with a battery rated up to 200 hours (Keychron)
  • Rapid trigger and adjustable actuation on magnetic switches
  • Comfortable OSA PBT keycaps, a well-dampened sound and no rattle from large keys (GameRevolution)
  • Full-size layout with a numpad and knob
What Could Be Better
  • Rapid trigger and adjustable actuation only work on magnetic switches (GameRevolution)
  • Legends are not shine-through (GameRevolution)
  • Pre-order only, with shipping estimated for December 2026
  • Only one independent review so far
  • Plastic case, and Keychron's page gives no weight or plate material

Who Is This For?

Perfect For
  • Players who want magnetic gaming features on some keys and mechanical feel on others
  • Full-size users who need a numpad and wireless
  • Switch tinkerers who want to mix switch types
Maybe Not For
  • Buyers who want a product that is shipping now
  • Anyone who only wants standard mechanical switches (cheaper boards do that)
  • People who need shine-through legends
