70% layout Wired Hot-swap QMK/VIA

Our take, based on research

A well-reviewed wired 70% that Tom's Guide rated an Editor's Choice for build and sound, held back only by price and the lack of a wireless option.

Overview

The Q7 sits between the 65% Q2 and 75% Q1: a 70% layout (73 keys) in a full CNC aluminum case with steel plate, gasket mount, hot-swap sockets, QMK and the Keychron Launcher. Keychron lists Gateron G Pro switches on the assembled version, normal-profile double-shot PBT keycaps and 1,820 g. It is wired only.

Tom's Guide gave it an Editor's Choice award. The reviewer called it built like a tank with a heavy 4.01 lb body, found the stock Gateron G Pro switches responsive and lovely for typing and gaming, thought the sound was fantastic: not too loud and free of metallic pings, and liked the OSA-profile double-shot PBT keycaps and the web-based software. It also valued the compact layout leaving room for mouse movement in games. Its cons were price and the lack of a wireless version.

It suits buyers who find a 65% too cramped but want to stay compact.
