Our take, based on research

A spec-led pick for a niche: wireless 8 kHz with a number pad and a huge battery rating. Treat feel and sound claims as inferred from the Q3 and Q6 Ultra reviews.

Overview

The Q5 Ultra 8K is the 96% member of Keychron's Q Ultra 8K series. Keychron lists 8000 Hz polling, 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth and wired connection, Keychron Silk POM switches in Red, Brown or Banana, a CNC aluminum case with gasket mount and PC plate, KSA double-shot PBT keycaps, a knob, 2,098 g and a 4000 mAh battery rated up to 660 hours. It runs ZMK firmware with the Keychron Launcher web app.

No major outlet appears to have reviewed this exact model yet. Sibling reviews cover the series. Tom's Hardware reviewed the Q6 Ultra 8K and explained that ZMK is optimized for wireless efficiency, which is how the 660-hour rating at 8 kHz is possible, but found the switches heavy and not very tactile and the high-profile keycaps small on top. Tom's Guide reviewed the Q3 Ultra 8K and liked the smooth switches, sound and gaming performance but noted tall KSA keycaps and the price.

Wirecutter's compact-keyboard guide also notes that the Q Ultra range uses ZMK, 8K polling and Silk POM switches.
