Wired 8 kHz magnetic 75% Q with Lime switches

A wired-only 75% aluminum Q with Keychron Lime magnetic switches, 8000 Hz polling and 0.1 to 3.35 mm actuation. It gives up wireless and a snappier, higher-pitched sound is the trade.

Our take, based on research

A fast, solid wired HE board. Reviewers liked the build and the polling rate and marked it down for price, sound and the loss of wireless. Choose it for competitive play; the regular Q1 HE suits mixed wireless use better.

Overview

The Q1 HE 8K is the wired, esports-leaning rewrite of the Q1 HE. Keychron lists an 8000 Hz polling rate, 256 kHz single-key scanning, Rapid Trigger, actuation from 0.1 to 3.35 mm and the Keychron Ultra-fast Lime magnetic switch, in an aluminum gasket-mounted case with OSA double-shot PBT keycaps at 1,860 g. Hot-swapping works with Keychron Lime and Gateron Jade magnetic switches. Keychron's spec line lists the layout without a knob, although its product copy mentions a knob design, so check the listing before assuming one.

Notebookcheck liked the typing feedback, build and gaming features, and said it is competitive with Wooting at the same polling rate, but found the price high and the sound high-pitched and little changed by swapping switches. It also noted some Lime switches were slightly loose in their sockets. GamesRadar described a snappier, almost clicky feel that differs from the original Q1 HE, saw the lack of wireless and kickstands as the cost, and felt wrist strain without a palm rest. GameRevolution named switch limitation, weight and no wireless as its three downsides.

Notebookcheck also reports Keychron raised onboard memory to 1 MB, so the board can hold many more macros and settings than before.

Pros & Cons

Strengths
  • 8000 Hz polling and 256 kHz scanning; reviewers called it competitive with Wooting-class boards (Notebookcheck)
  • Actuation adjustable from 0.1 to 3.35 mm with Rapid Trigger (Keychron)
  • Hot-swap works with Keychron Lime and Gateron Jade magnetic switches
  • Aluminum gasket-mounted case; Notebookcheck judged the build appropriately premium
  • Screw-in stabilizers that GameRevolution liked
  • Onboard memory raised to 1 MB for more macros and settings (Notebookcheck)
What Could Be Better
  • Wired only; the original Q1 HE's 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth are gone (GamesRadar)
  • Notebookcheck called the typing sound high-pitched and not much changed by swapping switches
  • Only magnetic switches fit, so standard switches are out (GameRevolution)
  • Some Lime switches sat slightly loose in their sockets (Notebookcheck)
  • No kickstands and a fixed angle; GamesRadar felt wrist strain without a rest
