The original DrunkDeer 75%

The original DrunkDeer 75%: a wired Hall-effect board with a volume knob, ANSI and three ISO layouts, and an optional aluminum PVD case. Reviewers liked the smooth switches and disliked the early software.

Hall effect Rapid Trigger 75% Adjustable actuation

Our take, based on research

A smooth, original-style magnetic 75% with ISO options and a volume knob. The hardware reviews well; the A75 Pro and Ultra are the newer structures if you want more.

Overview

The A75 is where DrunkDeer's range started. It is a wired 75% with adjustable magnetic switches, Rapid Trigger and a physical volume wheel. The maker's page sells it with black, white and grey cases, with Space Grey and Silver White PVD aluminum cases as separate variants, and with ABS keycaps, shine-through PBT keycaps or no keycaps at all. It is also the only board among the eight DrunkDeer models covered here that comes in ANSI plus ISO-DE, ISO-UK and ISO-FR.

Reviews of the A75 split along hardware and software. PC Gamer called the typing feel buttery smooth and the stabilizers solid, with Raesha linear magnetic switches, ABS keycaps and a 1000 Hz polling rate, but marked it down hard for the driver software it shipped with at launch and for missing functionality; SemiPro Tech+Gear said the switches made its other linear boards feel scratchy by comparison. HLPLANET later wrote that the software has come a long way since the early criticism, and DrunkDeer now configures its boards in a web driver. On hot-swap, the maker's FAQ says the switches are not soldered but recommends against swapping them, because each switch is calibrated to its sensor at the factory and a replacement can shift sensing accuracy slightly, while PC Gamer's launch review listed the board as not hot-swappable.

Pick it over the later boards mainly for the ISO options or the original design. The A75 Pro and A75 Ultra are the later 75% models; the Ultra adds 8 kHz polling.

Pros & Cons

Strengths
  • The only DrunkDeer in this group offered in ISO-DE, ISO-UK and ISO-FR as well as ANSI
  • Smooth linear magnetic switches, called buttery by PC Gamer and ultra-smooth by SemiPro Tech+Gear
  • Volume knob plus Rapid Trigger and adjustable actuation (0.2 to 3.3 mm per the maker)
  • Choice of ABS or PBT keycaps, a barebone option, and an aluminum PVD case option
  • Wired USB-C with 1000 Hz polling
What Could Be Better
  • PC Gamer found the launch software poor and missing features; later reviewers say it has improved, but it is still a web driver rather than onboard software
  • Hot-swap comes with a maker warning: replacing a switch can change calibration accuracy, and PC Gamer listed it as not hot-swappable
  • Wired only, with no wireless option
  • 1000 Hz polling, where the Ultra is 8 kHz
  • The aluminum PVD case is a separate variant, not the standard build

Who Is This For?

Perfect For
  • People who want a magnetic 75% with a volume knob and an ISO layout
  • Typists who value a smooth linear feel out of the box
  • Buyers who want the original design rather than the newer, heavier A75 Pro or Ultra
Maybe Not For
  • Players who want 8 kHz polling (see the A75 Ultra)
  • Anyone who wants to swap switches freely and re-calibrate nothing
  • Wireless users
