ASUS's gasket-mount 75% with an OLED, knob, hot-swap and a lube kit

A tri-mode 75% with a gasket mount, hot-swappable pre-lubed NX switches, a 2-inch OLED, a three-way control knob and a DIY lube kit. Tom's Hardware, IGN and Trusted Reviews loved the typing and battery; Armoury Crate software and the cost were the complaints.

Our take, based on research

One of the best-reviewed custom-style gaming boards, praised for feel, build and battery. Armoury Crate and the cost are the trade-offs, and the onboard shortcuts help limit your reliance on the software.

Overview

The ROG Azoth is ASUS's custom-leaning gaming board. ASUS lists a 75% layout, silicone gasket mount with three layers of dampening foam, a metal top cover, hot-swappable pre-lubed ROG NX switches, PBT doubleshot keycaps, 2.4 GHz SpeedNova, Bluetooth and USB connections, a 2-inch OLED, and a kit with a switch opener, lube station, brush and Krytox lube. The listed weight is 1,186 g, and Tom's Hardware notes the chassis is plastic under the metal top plate because Asus says the plastic is needed for peak wireless performance. Tom's Hardware called it an enthusiast typing experience in a wireless gaming package, almost perfect apart from Armoury Crate. IGN found the OLED useful rather than gimmicky and SpeedNova competitive with the best wired boards, though it wanted a rotary knob rather than the lever, and noted no extra USB or audio ports. IGN also cited a quoted 2,000 hours of battery with RGB and OLED off and used less than half of the battery in two weeks of daily use. Trusted Reviews found no deck flex, called the textured PBT keycaps excellent, and liked the NX Red switches' light, smooth feel, but warned about the iffy software and high cost. Tom's Hardware added that Fn shortcuts and the OLED cover many settings without installing anything, though customizing bindings, lighting or the OLED needs Armoury Crate. It is a premium option for gamers who want a typing-first 75% from a mainstream brand.
